The Challenge
The University of Pennsylvania’s School of Arts & Sciences, upon the construction of the new Perelman Center for Political Science, needed to relocate approx. 100 employees, their contents, and libraries into the new 100,000 square-foot space. The move was going to require a high-level of planning and was going to be physically taxing due to the lack of elevator service in the six existing origin buildings.
The Solution
Wayne Moving & Storage was selected as the vendor and created a nine-phase move plan that minimized disruption to school operations. Wayne crews handled all packing and labeling services to ensure faculty were able to focus on students and curriculums. Larger move crews were provided to handle the stair-carrying of book cartons and the numbering systems for shelving at destination ensured volumes were unpacked quickly and accurately.
The Result
The relocation was completed on-time and within budget, despite the relocation occurring during the school year. The planning that Wayne Project Managers put into place helped minimize downtime to faculty and students, with faculty members pleased with the move as all packing and unpacking was completed by Wayne Moving & Storage.
